
SHAI GILGEOUS-ALEXANDER NAMED WESTERN CONFERENCE PLAYER OF THE MONTH
OKLAHOMA CITY, Jan. 4, 2024 – Oklahoma City Thunder guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has been named Western Conference Player of the Month for games played in December, it was announced today by the NBA.
This marks the first Player of the Month honor for Gilgeous-Alexander. He appeared in 13 games (all starts) and averaged 31.9 points on 55.3 percent shooting from the field to go along with 6.6 assists, 5.4 rebounds, and a league-leading 3.08 steals in 35.2 minutes per game, as Oklahoma City went 10-3 in December.
Gilgeous-Alexander knocked down the game-winning shot with 1.4 seconds remaining on Dec. 16 against Denver and finished with 25 points, eight assists, six rebounds, two steals, and two blocks. He scored 30-plus points in 10 games during December, second most in the NBA.
Gilgeous-Alexander is on pace to join Michael Jordan as the only players to ever average 30-plus points on at least 50% shooting and 2.5 steals for an entire season.
